Innovative, modular, carriage and rail production system can be used by assembly, process and manufacturing companies to reduce costs and increase productivity.
THK, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of linear motion technology, has launched a completely new and innovative carriage and rail production system, that can be used by assembly, process and manufacturing companies to reduce costs and increase productivity. The new system is called the HMG Multi-motion Guide and essentially comprises a series of modular track or rail sections with the latest specification THK linear motion guide technology. Track sections are available in a wide range of lengths, widths and straight and curved formats, enabling almost any configuration of production track to be constructed, with single or multiple carriages or blocks being used to move and position workpieces allowing variable capacity.
Unlike traditional production track equipment, the HMG system uses purpose designed linear motion components to ensure that each carriage moves consistently and accurately regardless of the set-up of the rail.
This eliminates potential variations in tolerances between different sections of track and ensures a smooth, almost friction-less motion, with positional accuracy of within +/-0.1mm.
Typical track configurations are circular, U-shaped, L-shaped or S-shaped.
In each case, it is possible to make considerable savings in design and construction time and cost.
For example, a conventional rectangular production track typically incorporates a turntable at each corner to re-align pallets or workpieces; using the HMG system the turntable units can be replaced with a simple curved section of track, allowing the linear motion carriages to move in a continuous path.
Similarly, several rails can be mounted in parallel, while heavier loads can be accommodated by using multiple rails or carriages.
The linear motion guides are robust, high performance units and are capable of being loaded in radial, reverse-radial and lateral directions, with a maximum static load rating of 66.7kN on a single carriage.
They are low maintenance and have a long operating life; a range of options including scraper seals is also available.

A measurement amplifier simplifies two-channel manufacturing and testing processes, such as press-fit monitoring, to ensure greater fitting accuracy.
The new MP85 measurement amplifier from HBM simplifies two-channel manufacturing and testing processes, such as press-fit monitoring, by checking two inter-related signals ensuring the optimum combination is obtained for greater fitting accuracy. This is beneficial, for example, during the press fitting of bearings or sleeves, when the applied force can be checked against the displacement curve, to give clear guidance on the process quality. Similar two-channel processes happen when monitoring clinching and fitting during assembly tasks.
The MP85 can also be used for monitoring rotational torque or angle curves in component and function testing, or for circularity tests where the rotational angle and displacement must be evaluated.
Almost any sensor can be connected to the MP85, such as strain gages, inductive or incremental transmitters, and SSI transducers.
The MP85 uses high-performance algorithms for curve evaluation with a maximum of nine predefined windows for each curve, or one master curve with envelope as evaluation criteria.
Users have the option of switching between absolute and relative reference co-ordinates to simplify parameter setting.
The MP85 uses digital I/Os to save statistics on component quality, either on a PC or an internal MMC card for later archiving.
The MP85 is available in a Profibus version, the MP85DP, ensuring optimum connectivity in the automation environment through canopen and Profibus interfaces or digital I/Os.
To complement its amplifiers, HBM supplies a complete range of force, pressure and displacement transducers and torque flanges for comprehensive monitoring of production processes.

A vibratory bowl feeder for feeding of special plastics caps where the diameter of the cap head was equal to the height of the cap and where the orientation of the cap is particularly difficult.
Elscint Automation, the ISO 9001:2000 certified vibratory bowl feeder manufacturer from India manufactures a vibratory bowl feeder for feeding of special plastics caps where the diameter of the cap head was equal to the height of the cap. Due to these dimensions, achieving the required orientation of open side facing ground for the caps is very difficult and in fact a lot of bowl feeder manufacturers proclaim their inability to orient the same. However, the experienced bowl tooling engineers at Elscint have developed a standard bowl for feeding these types of caps in precisely the manner in which they were required at a very high feed rate of 150 caps per minute.
For this, either the Elscint Vibratory Bowl Feeder Model 250 or Model 400 can be used.
Packing and capping machine manufacturers have this type of requirement.
Elscint vibratory bowl feeders are already the preferred choice amongst the leading manufacturers of such machines in India and they are now getting popular even amongst manufacturers in Europe.
