The Clipper family is an entry level flameproof ABS enclosure, intended for housing small PCBs for handheld applications.
Hammond Electronics has acquired the small enclosures business of West Hyde Enclosures which has ceased trading. Manufacture has now resumed in the UK from the original West Hyde tooling, giving continuity of supply for customers who had previously specified the enclosures. The Clipper family is an entry level flameproof ABS enclosure, intended for housing small PCBs for handheld applications.
Four sizes, from 40 x 60 x 19 to 125 x 70 x 22mm, are available in either black or grey; the three largest sizes are fitted with a battery compartment suitable for either a 9V PP3 or two AA batteries.
The top surface of the enclosure is completely flat, so labels, silk screening and membrane keyboards can easily be applied to the unit; machining for switches and indicators is also very simple.
A removable plastic front panel is captured between the two halves of the enclosure, a lap joint construction protects against dust entry and PCB mounting standoffs are moulded into the interior.
A satin texture finish gives good wear resistance and the unit is ergonomically styled to give a comfortable grip.

Environmentally friendly copper-based shielding gaskets offer beryllium-free EMI mitigation in a wide range of slotted applications.
Laird Technologies has introduced its Recyclable Clean Copper products, a new range of environmentally friendly, copper-based shielding gaskets that offer a beryllium-free EMI solution for use in a wide range of slotted applications. Laird Technologies continues to consider customers’ needs as copper prices fluctuate. Currently, Recyclable Clean Copper alloys cost about 10% less than copper beryllium (CuBe) alloys.
Additionally, Recyclable Clean Copper contains 13% less copper by volume and is therefore less affected by increasing variations in copper prices than similar products that contain CuBe.
Moreover, the Recyclable Clean Copper gaskets meld strong stability with tensile strength to achieve high levels of thermal and electrical conductivity and elasticity making it suitable for utilisation in both grounding and shielding applications at a rate that is comparable to traditional metal EMI shields.
Additionally, shielding performance is similar to other copper alloys with values over 100dB shielding effectiveness readily achieved.
‘The Recyclable Clean Copper shielding gaskets extend our continuing commitment to protecting the environment in which we live and work’, said Peter Graustein, Global Product Director for Metals Products, Laird Technologies.
‘This alternative material also exhibits better stress relaxation properties than many other solutions, allowing it to maintain pressure longer at contact points resulting in higher end product quality and longer system life spans for automotive, computer, military and telecommunications devices’.
Recyclable Clean Copper is fully compliant with EU RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC and alleviates the environmental, safety and segregation concerns associated with the traditional use and recycling of beryllium-based copper alloys.
This gasket material is characterised by superior yield strength (up to 100MPa) compared with other common copper alloys.
Key applications for this product include navigation and infotainment systems, NAS or SAN storage systems, high-end servers and communications display units, as well as basestations, handsets and network enclosures.

Ergonomic housings have a modern contoured design with a recessed central control area for fitting membrane keypads or mechanical keyboards.
OKW has introduced tabletop versions of its Diatec range of enclosures. These ergonomic housings have a modern contoured design with a recessed central control area for fitting membrane keypads or mechanical keyboards. Typical applications will include data-collection units, communications equipment, medical and wellness devices, point-of-sale terminals etc.
The Diatec cases consist of four mouldings - base part, control panel, and two contoured side covers - which snap-on and can be locked with the two anti-tampering clips supplied.
The cases are moulded in ABS (UL94HB) in off-white, RAL 9002.
Two standard sizes are offered: type S 210 x 200 x 48mm and type M 270 x 200 x 48mm.
The central control panel is recessed by 2.5mm and has dimensions of 120 x 128mm or 180 x 128mm.
The vertical front and back sections are ideal for fitting cable connections, on/off switches etc The interior of the case can be subdivided using accessory slot-in panels.
Screw pillars are also provided in the base and control panel for mounting PCBs.
For mobile applications, two 1.5V AA cells can be fitted in the base section under the side cover.
OKW can supply the Diatec cases with additional holes for pushbuttons, connectors and displays etc, plus silk-screen printed legends and logos, and EMC shielding.
The cases can also be moulded or painted in alternative colours.

IMpatch gives a future-proofed patching environment for both copper and fibre media.
IMpatch, the latest development to be added to the innovative IMnet and IMserv family of dedicated networking enclosures from APW Enclosure Solutions, gives a future-proofed patching environment for both copper and fibre media. It extends the family’s capabilities with the addition of an open frame design, which, because of the all-round access and lack of doors, saves significant computer room real estate compared with an enclosure. It provides outstanding cable management on both the backbone input and the integral front cable management arms on the patching side of the frame enable 100% patching to be achieved, again reducing real estate requirements.
Available in heights of 42U and 47U, the modular design of the IMpatch system enables it to be expanded as increased capacity is required.
On the patching side, regularly spaced front-facing cable hooks on both sides of the unit guide, separate and support the patch cables.
Vertical cable channels, complete with covers that hinge both ways or can be completely removed, are provided on both sides of the frame for running the patch cables.
On the backbone input side, cables can be swept into the rear of the patch panels from both sides of the unit.
IMpatch gives European installers and network infrastructure designers the freedom to specify a US-style open frame or a European pattern closed cabinet from within the same product family.
It is optimised for managing Cat 5E, Cat 6, Augmented Cat 6, Cat 7, 10Gb and fibre cables.
Top and base cable entry, segregated vertical cable channels and direct floor tile replacement makes IMpatch extremely versatile and easy to install and configure.

Snap series enclosures are designed for housing small electronic devices.
Teko has introduced the miniature Snap series enclosures, which have been designed for housing small electronic devices. Typical applications will include RF and infra-red remote control systems, measurement devices, medical and wellness equipment, detection units, personal security electronics etc. Snap cases consist of three parts, the top and base mouldings and a clip-on battery compartment lid.
The integral battery compartment will accept a 9V cell.
The cases are assembled by a single self-tapping screw.
Internal mounting studs are provided in the top moulding for fitting the PCB.
The external dimensions are 82 x 60 x 25mm.
The cases are moulded in light grey, RAL 9018 or black, RAL 9004 ABS (UL94HB).
The top panel features a display window aperture for mounting LCD or LED displays.
A press-in transparent polycarbonate window is also supplied for protecting the displays.
A red plastic end panel is fitted in the open end of the enclosure and is designed for infra-red applications.
This reduces the circuit complexity and cost as the infra-red signal device can be fitted directly on the PCB rather than in the end of the enclosure.
