American Power Conversion has been awarded ‘highly commended’ status for the second year in succession by the Irish National Safety Organisation (NISO). The prestigious ‘Electronics/Electrical Award 2005′ award recognises improvements in safety at work and is awarded to organisations for outstanding achievements in meeting Irish National Safety Organisation standards.

It was announced at the 14th Annual Awards Ceremony dinner, held in the Citywest Hotel, Dublin.

The judging of the awards was undertaken by an independent panel of experts.

Over 100 companies from a wide range of industrial sectors are nominated for the awards.

This year’s nominees included many leading household names including Hewlett Packard, Tyco Healthcare, Abbott Ireland, and O’Malley Construction.

Bill Ryan, Health and Safety Manager, American Power Conversion Ireland said: ‘The electronics/electrical award is only given to companies that can demonstrate the highest standards with regard to management of a safe work environment’.

‘Safety concerns are a critical part of APC culture and how we conduct our business, from our products right through to the wellbeing of our staff and customers’.

‘Receiving the award for a second year in succession is a significant endorsement of the ongoing development of our health and safety policy and we are naturally delighted that the National Safety Organisation has chosen to recognise us with this important accolade’.

‘The new Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, which came into effect from this September, raises in the bar in terms of personnel wellbeing, and APC will continue its hard work to avoid accidents in the workplace’.
