Quarter-brick convertor boosts IBA power density
Categories: DC/DC Convertors, UncategorizedC and D Technologies has introduced an isolated DC/DC convertor that provides a cost and space saving solution for intermediate bus architecture applications in computer and telecommunications equipment. The QUS40-096 has an unregulated output, and a fixed conversion ratio of 5:1 that is maintained between the input and output voltages. The module is housed in a compact, industry standard, quarter-brick footprint package.
Operating from a typical input voltage of 48V DC, the QUS40-096 has an output voltage set-point of 9.6V DC.
It is able to deliver a maximum output power of 300W at 38V DC input, +55C and 1m/s linear airflow, and has a typical efficiency of 96.6%.
By incorporating isolation (up to 2250V DC), the new bus convertor allows designers to achieve overall cost and real estate savings by allowing them to use nonisolated point-of-load (POL) devices rather than larger, more expensive isolated versions.
The QUS40-096 features a primary side remote enable capability (positive or negative triggered), plus overcurrent and overtemperature protection, both with automatic restart.
The versatile module is also suitable for parallel operation allowing it to satisfy the requirements of higher power applications.
