Markow has responsibility for corporate communications activities including national and international public relations, employee communications, government relations and community relations.

Prior to joining VLSI, Markow was the vice president of corporate communications and public relations for National Semiconductor. Previously, Markow was the director of corporate communications at Praxair, a former subsidiary of Union Carbide involved in the development and production of industrial gases, and was assistant vice president of communications with GTE Telephone Operations.

Markow holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Richmond, Virginia and a Masters degree in Media from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the Arthur Page Society and the PR Seminar and serves on the Board of Directors of the Tech Museum of Innovation based in San Jose, California.
